Volvo re-brands road builders

11 April 2008

Volvo construction Equipment has unveiled its first road building machines in Volvo livery, following the acquisition of these product lines from Ingersoll Rand at the end of April. The machines were on display at the Excon exhibition in Bangalore, India in November.

Volvo has the right to continue using the Ingersoll Rand brand for one year following the acquisition. This is to say that by April next year, it must complete the changeover to Volvo livery.

In addition to incorporating the new machines into its business, Volvo is also consolidating its two sets of dealers. According to Pat Olney, president of Volvo's road machinery division, this is being done on a territory-by-territory basis around the world, and in some areas the company is retaining two dealers.

Mr Olny said this process of integration was slightly ahead of schedule. Speaking to CE at Excon he said, “We expect to have 50% to 60% of sales going through the 'final network' by the end of the year.”
