StruktonHurks preferred bidder on Utrecht project

24 June 2014

The StruktonHurks consortium has been given intention to award status by the Netherlands’ Government Buildings Agency for a new project in Utrecht.

The project involves a flexible, sustainable and energy-efficient building for two institutes - the National Institute of Public Health & Environmental Protection (RIVM), and the Medicines Evaluation Board Agency (CBG). Both institutes are part of the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sport (VWS).

Construction will begin in 2015 at the Utrecht Science Park/The Uithof in Utrecht.

The construction will be carried out under a public-private partnership (PPP) with a 25-year term and is valued at more than €265 million.

The StruktonHurks consortium is a collaborative venture involving Strukton, Hurks and Heijmans. The organisations involved in the building design include Felix Claus Dick van Wageningen Architects, H+N+S Landscape Architects, Deerns and YASK.

The definitive award will be announced on 14 July.
