This project is part of a major upgrade to Telehouse’s largest data facility, Telehouse South, located in the Docklands area of London.

The project involves the mechanical, electrical and public health engineering fit-out of two of the data centre’s floors, with the scope of work including the installation of electrical plant and systems, as well as advanced air conditioning and ventilation infrastructure.

In addition, the project calls for construction work, including the replacement of cladding, the reconfiguration of secure entrances, the construction of a new gatehouse and the installation of fencing.

Furthermore, a new roof gantry for plant equipment will be erected, along with new lifts, enhancing the facility’s operational capabilities.

Learning from experience

Telehouse Europe’s managing director, Takayo Takamuro, said, “The ongoing buildout and development of this state-of-the-art data centre underlines the high standards of security, sustainability, and operational excellence that Telehouse is able to deliver to its data centre customers today.”

Skanska’s managing director, Dan Williams, said, “We are excited to be working with Telehouse to deliver this project. It is something we are ideally suited for, as we are experienced in delivering a wide range of data centre fit-outs.”

The company said the contract is one of the largest fit-outs Skanska UK has undertaken, in terms of financial value.

Skanska was also involved at an earlier stage of the data centre project, delivering an early works package under a preconstruction services agreement.

The main contract work on the centre upgrade is expected to be completed by June 2024.
