Revenues up at Skanska

Revenues for the first six months of 2015 have risen at Swedish-based contractor Skanska, with the company reporting a figure of SEK74.4 billion (€7.89 billion) – up from SEK62.4 billion (€6.61 billion) in the same period of 2014.

It said that adjusted for currency effects, revenue had increased by 6% over the previous year’s figures.

Skanska reported operating income of SEK2.5 billion (€264.97 million) for the first half of this year, compared to SEK1.6 billion (€169.51 million). Adjusted for currency effects, its operating income increased by 49%, said the company.

Order bookings in construction were said to have amounted to SEK58.3 billion (€6.18 billion), down from SEK68.0 billion (€7.21 billion) at the same point last year. Adjusted for currency effects, order bookings decreased by 22%.

Skanska said that adjusting for a large order cancellation during the second quarter, order bookings decreased by 14% in local currency. It cut US$800 million (€729 million) from its order booking following the cancelation of a contract in the US.

The order backlog of SEK168.8 billion (€17.80 billion) compared to SEK181.2 billion (€19.20 billion) at 31 March, 2015. Skanska said that adjusted for currency effects, the order backlog decreased by 5%.

The operating income in construction amounted to SEK1.69 billion (€178.73 million), compared to a figure of SEK1.67 billion (€176.94 million) – a fall of 9% when adjusted for currency effects, said Skanska.
