Heijmans on the up

18 August 2016

Heijmans has announced its half-year results, revealing revenues of €946 million, representing an increase of 2% compared to the same period a year ago.

The company said the increase was largely due to considerable growth in revenues in property development and to a lesser extent in infrastructure.

The company did, however, record a loss in profits of €7 million, despite this being an improvement on last year’s loss of €11 million.

Heijmans said its profits improved in property development, residential and non-residential building. It added that its Belgian and German operations also improved, while its Dutch operations remained the same.

Bert van der Els, CEO for Heijmans, said, “Demand in the residential market remains high, creating opportunities for our property development and residential building operations.

“The new contracts for large-scale area developments are a clear sign of this potential. These include Hart van Zuid, Nieuw Kralingen and another section of Katendrecht in Rotterdam, as well as a new project in Kanaleneiland in Utrecht.

Heijmans said it expected its demand in the residential market to remain high, while it also expected to see an improvement in its infrastructure market.
