Bergmann goes electric on dumpers under 4t

By Murray Pollok26 October 2022

German site dumper manufacturer Bergmann is going all-electric on its models up to 4 tonne capacity.

The company, based in Mappen, Lower Saxony, used Bauma to launch several new machines in its electric range, including the 1.5 tonne capacity C802, two 800 kg models - the C901 SL and C301 L - and the 300 kg capacity C301 S.

Also on show was the 1 tonne capacity C801, a prototype being shown to test the demand for an intermediate machine between the 800 kg and 1,500 kg dumpers. Already available are the C804, C804 Skip and C301 M models.

The smallest three machines in Bergmann’s electric range - the C301 models - are produced in the UK by Tufftruk, which sells them under the Truxta brand. (Tufftruk is also exhibiting at Bauma.)

A spokesperson for the company told IRN that it was the strategy to focus on battery powered machines for the 4 tonne payload and below segment of the market. In support of the strategy Bergmann has built its own lithium ion battery plan at at its headquarters in Mappen, using bought-in cells.

The new C802 has a claimed range of 50 km on a single charge. The C804, which was launched two years ago, will run for eight hours on a single charge, said the company, while the smaller C301 machines can operate for several days on a charge.

Bergmann has also made some changes to its 6 t and 9 t capacity diesel powered dumpers. Both now come with the option of a swivel chair in the cab - giving the operator a better view of operations - and there is a Deutz engine option for both, in addition to the standard Cummins power unit.
