Bauma 2019: Earthmoving part 2

The new Avant 800 series loader will be introduced at Bauma 2019 by Avant Tecno, with production expected to start in the autumn of this year.

The show will be held from Monday 8 to Sunday 14 April, 2019, in Munich, Germany.

The completely new 800 series is the largest and most powerful loader range from Avant Tecno.

The company claimed it pushed the limits of compact loader performance with a 1,900kg lift capacity and 3.5m lift height.

However, its dimensions – width 1.5m, length 3.4m, height 2.2m and weight starting from 2,500kg – along with the articulated design were said to make the 800 series a versatile and powerful compact loader.

There will be two models available to start with. The first is the Avant 860i, with a Kohler KDI 1903 TCR 42kW common rail turbocharged diesel engine, which is Stage V and Tier 4 final compliant.

The second is the Avant 850, with a Kubota V2403 36kW diesel engine, designed for markets outside the scope of EU Stage V and US Tier 4 final emission standards.

Hydrostatic transmission with a hydraulic drive motor on each wheel together with two drive speed areas is a familiar feature of Avant compact loaders. The manufacturer said that the maximum drive speed of the 800 series was 30km/h and auxiliary hydraulics oil flow for attachments is as high as 80 litres/m.

A telescopic loader boom is a standard feature on the 800 series as well. The boom extends and retracts hydraulically 825mm and gives a maximum lift height of 3.5m to the hinge pin. This is said to enable loading on trucks with high sides, and unloading from a high level.

The hydraulic self-levelling system automatically keeps the load level when lifting and lowering the boom.

The 800 series is equipped with Avant quick attach system for attachments, and other systems like Euro 3 will be available as an option.

The hydraulic hoses of the attachments are coupled with the multi connector, which Avant claimed allowed easy connecting with a single hand movement, in all conditions.

Avant 800 series has a certified ROPS/FOPS open cab as standard. In addition, an enclosed heated cab is available as an option.

This DLX cab mounts on the chassis of the loader with anti-vibration mounts. It is also said to have efficient heating and ventilation, plus large windows.

The DLX cab can be equipped with air conditioning as well.

The Avant attachment range – over 200 attachments – is available for the 800 series also. The company said this made the 800 a versatile and useful machine for many different customer groups, including landscaping, construction, property maintenance, agriculture and material handling jobs.

Avant Tecno introduced its first battery-powered loader, the Avant e5, at the last Bauma in 2016.

Since then the electric loader range has been completed by what it claimed to be the first lithium-ion battery-powered compact loader on the market, the Avant e6.

This model is said to feature state-of-the-art battery technology which Avant has developed with the Finnish car manufacturer Valmet Automotive, which has extensive experience in design and manufacturing of battery systems for different types of vehicles.

Both the Avant e5 and e6 have been in production for some time now and the company said that demand for battery-powered loaders was increasing steadily.

John Deere has revealed that its construction equipment will be available in Europe for the first time in many years, with the US-based company introducing two G-Series motor graders to the European market via the Wirtgen Group distribution network in Germany and France.

The two models – the 622GP and 672GP – will be at Bauma, and will be available in Germany and France from early this year.

Deere bought the Wirtgen Group – with the Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven brands covering milling, processing, mixing, paving, compaction and rehabilitation operations – in 2017.

The introduction is said to be a result of increased interest in John Deere earthmoving equipment following the Wirtgen Group acquisition.

Deere said that with motor graders used in roadbuilding applications, the synergies between the Deere models and the Wirtgen portfolio, as well as thriving French and German markets, were determining factors in bringing the machines to the continent.

The European rollout focuses on the six-wheel drive 622GP and 672GP models that are said to feature fuel efficient Tier 4 Final John Deere diesel engines – 6.8 litre for the 622GP producing 169kW, and 9.0 litre for the 672GP providing 190kW.

Six-wheel drive with automatic differential lock is said to allow the machines to power through the toughest cuts, and to give operators increased traction in poor ground conditions or when working on ditches or side hills.

The 622GP with 3.66m mouldboard operates at a weight of 19,078kg, while the 672GP with 4.27m mouldboard weighs in at 19,976kg.

Sany will be showing a number of new products at the event, with the comany’s earthmoving equipment department launching three new models and giving a preview of a prototype 7.2 tonne short tail excavator.

The new hydraulic crawler excavator SY155U with short tail will compete in the important European 12.7 tonne class.

It is powered by an Isuzu engine and Kawasaki hydraulics. The machine will be offered with multiple standard options.

The new wheeled excavator SY155W will be the first wheeled excavator launched by Sany for the European market, and is powered by a Deutz engine, ZF driveline, Bosch Rexroth hydraulics and a two-piece boom.

Sany will also show the SY500 HRD demolition excavator, which is equipped with the new Cummins QSG12 engine, and has a reach of 28m.

The SY80U hydraulic excavator, which will be available for the market at the end of 2019 and is equipped with a Yanmar engine, will also be displayed.

Wacker Neuson and Kramer will be focusing on their zero-emission ranges at the show.

The Wacker Neuson Group stand will feature the entire zero emission portfolio, including the latest additions to the family, which will be taking centre stage, according to the company.

A zero-emission boulevard will run through the entire stand and feature a host of different interactive stations.

Visitors will be able to experience the broad portfolio of battery-powered rammers and vibratory plates as well as electric wheeled loaders, electric dumpers and electric mini excavators.

The AS60e battery-powered rammer and the AP2560e battery-powered vibratory plate are the latest additions to the range, with both machines equipped with a Wacker Neuson battery. A total of six products can now be powered by this interchangeable battery.

Other new products in the zero-emission portfolio include the fully electric EZ17e zero tail mini excavator and the DW15e electric wheeled dumper.

Alexander Greschner, CSO of the Wacker Neuson Group, said, “Emissions are set to become an increasingly problematic issue, especially in urban areas. With our zero emission solutions, our customers will definitely be on the safe side.

“In meeting emission mitigation needs, we also make sure that we only launch a product once we know that it can do an average day’s work on a single battery charge and that the equipment will pay for itself in three years or less.”

The company will also unveil new digitalisation solutions, including a realistic driving simulator that will allow visitors to experience and test products before the initial prototypes have even been built.

Virtual reality applications will be used for training purposes and configuring complex machines, while a 3D printer will provide demonstrations of how spare parts can be manufactured quickly.

Another innovation revolves – quite literally – around operator and construction site safety.

The dual view concept for wheeled dumpers with payloads of between 6 and 10 tonnes is said to enable operators to quickly change their seating position by turning the entire operating and seat console by 180°. This ensures that drivers always have a clear view in the direction of travel when transporting, loading and unloading material.

This concept will be launched in all European markets at the show.

Liebherr’s 14,000m² outdoor stand, as well as indoor areas in halls A4 and B5, will allow it to present its latest product developments and innovations from across the whole range of construction machines, material handling and mining, as well as components.

With its message, Together. Now & Tomorrow, the group will show more than 60 exhibits outside at the show.

Liebherr will also present its latest components inside on a showroom floor of nearly 450m², where the focus will be on condition monitoring and system solutions.

In hall B5, visitors will be able to learn more about the latest innovations from Liebherr’s extensive attachment tools programme.

During 2019, Liebherr will be introducing its new generation of earthmoving crawler excavators.

Within the first phase of this, seven new models will be released in the 22 to 45 tonne range.

The new, eighth generation crawler excavators are said to guarantee more power, more productivity, increased safety and greater comfort for the operator.

For the new XPower large wheeled loader, visitors can also look forward to a total package with smart assistance systems. Features also include the new rear bystander detection and a built-in, sensor-powered tyre-monitoring system.

All these systems are said to have been developed by the Liebherr Group so they could be fully integrated into the control systems of the machinery.

Aimed at the mining division, visitors can watch demonstrations of the R 9200 E electric drive excavator – claimed to be a world premiere at a fair for a machine in this class – and Liebherr-Mining will also present the new T 236 diesel electric drive truck.

Liebherr will unveil INTUSI, its INTeractive USer Interface, to the public for the first time at the show.

Described as an innovative, adaptive and intuitive operating concept, it is claimed that it will revolutionise the communication between and with construction machines.

INTUSI connects Liebherr construction machinery and material handlers to the internet of things (IoT) and is said to be combining an intelligent operating logic with clever machine intelligence.

With its INTUSI system, Liebherr said it had created a completely new, modern control environment.

Kubota will use Bauma to complete its dash-4 range, with the launch of the 3.7 tonne KX037-4, which will replace the KX101-3a4.

The machine includes what Kubota described as standard features such as four top frame tie-down points and Kubota’s engine safe start system plus a hydraulic lockout on the left-hand console.

There are optional safety valves for the boom, arm and dozer.

The cab is 40% wider than the previous model and the machine is powered by a Stage V 17.8kW Kubota engine.

The company will also be showing a wide selection of its tracked dumpers and wheeled loaders.

On the wheeled loader side, it will have new models in the 1.6 to 2.8 tonne range, the RT160, RT210 and RT280. Some of these have already been sold, but it will be their first showing at an international show.

Kubota also promises something else at Bauma that it said would only be revealed at the show.

Mecalac will show the new AS500, a rigid chassis, swing loader with a standard bucket capacity of 0.5m³ and an operating weight of 4.2 tonnes.

The company said the rigid chassis with four-wheel steering gave it significant benefits in manoeuvrability and stability compared to conventional articulated loaders.

The AS500, equipped with a 500 litre bucket, is the smallest of the range, with other models in the range from 700 litre to 2,000 litre.

Mecalac said the launch of the new small model would help to “democratise” the range, and promote the format to a wider audience, including rental companies.

Hidromek plans to display new equipment at Bauma, including the H4 series excavators, HMK 635 WL wheeled loader, soil compactors and the new HMK 70 W, which is an electric excavator

The new H4 Series excavators have an electronic system with an increased capacity to display the condition of the machine and its integration with additional equipment.

The red handles and warning labels on the new series of machines are designed to increase the operator’s safety to the highest level.

On the HMK 70 W electric excavator, not only the engine but the entire system is different from the standard machines, said Hidromek.

The machine has an electric engine and a battery, with a one-time charge providing eight hours of usage. The standard socket on HMK 70 W allows self-charging.

With the HMK 145 LC SR crawler excavator, the company said it aimed to make the operator feel as comfortable as possible, and it uses an Opera Control System to facilitate the easy use of the machine.

In addition, the HMK 145 LC SR crawler excavator claims to provide easy access for service and maintenance.

The HMK 130 CS soil compactors and HMK 110 CS are said to have a spacious cabin, with large windows which enable a wide angle of view for the operator.

The HMK 635 WL wheeled loader is said by the company to be more environmentally friendly and productive than before, with its Phase-5 Mercedes engine.

Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe will use Bauma to showcase its compact equipment.

The company is developing sub-13/14 tonne machines and said it was no longer active in the genset and lighting tower sector except in Japan.

At Bauma, it will give the 2.3 tonne Vi023-6 mini excavator its global launch.

A zero tailswing model, the Vi023-6 will complement Yanmar’s existing conventional model of a similar size, the SB22, the company said.

The new machine in Europe has an expandable undercarriage, which can be extended from 1,380mm to 1,550mm, offering greater stability and reflecting the trend of using heavier attachments on even small machines, according to Yanmar.

The company added that the machine would have a lot of potential for the rental industry and that it performed close to a 2.5 tonne class machine.

It will share some of the features of larger six models, including an Eco mode to save fuel, and will use, for example, the same controls and instruments as the company’s 5 tonne excavator.

It has a transport weight of 2,365kg, including cabin, standard counterweights and standard arm.

There will also be two new 8 tonne models – the Vi082 and the Vi080-2PB, which features a two-piece articulating main boom, in contrast to the monoboom design of the Vi082.

The company claimed the two-piece boom could provide greater flexibility in lifting and placing loads.

On its 500m² outdoor stand, Tobroco-Giant will be displaying 13 of its latest machines, alongside examples of the company’s more established models.

The new models range from articulated loaders to telehandlers.

However, with the growth in demand for machines that are not only reliable but also environmentally-friendly, the company said that perhaps the most noteworthy machines on display would be the new electric wheeled loaders.

Both in the 2.2 tonne class, the G2200E X-TRA with a lower front will be shown in action in the demo area, while the standard G2200E, with cabin, will be on display inside the hospitality area.

These new machines come as a result of the fact that the company saw there was demand for larger electric equipment after it introduced its electric skid steer.

Ultimately, Tobroco-Giant said it wanted to offer electric versions of all its models.

As standard, both the G2200E X-TRA and G2200E come equipped with a lithium-ion battery that has a minimum capacity of 12.3kWh.

Tobroco-Giant said the machines’ compact design, along with zero emissions and low noise levels, made these new loaders well suited to indoor applications or confined urban construction sites.

Production of these is due to begin in October 2019.

In addition, Tobroco-Giant will also be introducing three new articulated loaders.

With the G4500 range last year, the company launched the first EU Stage V compliant models.

The G1500 X-TRA, G2200 X-TRA and G3500 X-TRA are the next models in line to replace the previous generation models in the range between 1,500 and 3,500kg.

They can be used with 100 different attachments, and as they are articulated, they can operate effectively in narrow areas.

Finally, Tobroco-Giant will be replacing its 4548 Tendo HD telehandler with the new GT5048 later this year, so a concept version of the new machine will be on show.

The GT5048 is powered by a 36kW Kubota diesel engine with a catalytic converter and a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
