Construction work has begun on a £250 million (€320 million) UK redevelopment led by Skanska to deliver training facilities at the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA).

The site at Worthy Down, is set to include supply, transport and military human resources facilities for the Ministry of Defence.

Initial demolition operations have started in order to prepare the site, which will provide a support base for a range of military operations and offer accommodation to 2,000 students.

Skanska will be working on the project over the next four years with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, to create a series of purpose-built villages for those training at the site.

It follows a £121 million (€151 million) contract for a new Defence College of Technical s Training at Lyneham in Wiltshire.

Air Vice-Marshal Elaine West, director of programmes and Projects, said, “Our priority is to build a better estate for our Armed Forces – delivering the right buildings in the right places to the standard that our personnel deserve and require.

"The new college at Worthy Down will ensure our servicemen and women have state-of-the-art training facilities with living accommodation to match.”
