Investment plans for Bulgarian roads

A total of € 1 billion will be invested in road construction in Bulgaria over the next six years, according to the Sofia Echo.

It added, by 2013 as much again will be poured into Bulgaria's transport infrastructure. More than € 989 million of the transport programme subsidy will be spent on road construction and reconstruction, the report said. About € 580 million will go into railroad infrastructure and € 158 million will be spent on improving water transport, it added.

The programme is one of the seven in Bulgaria that will use EU funds, and has the biggest budget, the report added.
