Van Oord for German wind farm

A co-operation agreement for the development, financing and construction of an offshore wind farm 90km north of the German coast has been signed by Dutch-based dredging, marine engineering and offshore project specialist Van Oord and Highland Group Holdings.

The Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea’s German Bight, and will have a rated power of 252MW.

Van Oord will execute the balance of plant (infrastructure components) for the project, comprising the engineering, procurement and construction of the foundations, inter array cables and the offshore substation.

Van Oord and Highland Group Holdings say they are intending to participate in the equity for the offshore wind farm.

Financial close is scheduled for the first half of 2017, and a start date for the offshore installation is envisaged for the second half of 2018. The Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
