Receivers revealed

11 April 2008

Trimble introduced seven new GPS receivers and Smart GPS antennas for construction contractors earlier this year.

New models include the SPS551, SPS551H, SPS651, SPS751 and SPS851 modular GPS receivers. Also new are the SPS781 and SPS881 Smart GPS antennas, ideal for fast setup and take down, a spokesman for the company said.

He added, “As more users become interested in the benefits of next generation GPS and GLONASS signal tracking, the new Trimble GPS receivers now offer more flexibility in leveraging these capabilities.”

Customers can upgrade as work tasks demand, as new signals are activated or as finances become available, he said.

All seven new receivers use Trimble's Real Time Kinematic (RTK) engine for faster initialisation and less downtime on the job site.

The spokesman said, “The receivers also track and use the L2C GPS signals as a standard configuration and some models can be upgraded to include GLONASS and L5 signals to facilitate performance on jobsites with obstructed visibility.”
