The new 6,5 tonne reduced tailswing 8065 excavator from JCB features enhanced operator comfort and easy access to components.

JCB's new 6,5 tonne 8065 RTS reduced tailswing tracked excavator features a Stage IIIA (Tier 3) 40,5 kW Isuzu engine and replaces the 8060 machine.

It has a maximum dig depth of 4,35 m and with a 4,27 m dump height constitutes the biggest working envelope of a machine in this class, JCB stated.

A 117 mm reduction of the machine's tailswing makes it even more productive when operating in confined spaces, the company said. The new excavator also features a heavy-duty dipper to give improved bucket and dipper tearout forces.

Christophe Lecarpentier, product manager for the compact and heavy line at JCB France, said, "The dozer blade allows the materials to roll around when pushing the earth providing a better flow of material which helps improve producitivity. The technique also prevents the blade from becoming blocked by the earth when moving forwards."

He added, "The operator's comfort is also very important - there is a good door width providing good accessibility. The operator's controls move with the suspension seat which is quite unusual on a compact machine but customers were asking for this as they were used to it in bigger machines."

The optional cab or canopy is isolated from the slew frame, reducing noise and vibration levels.

Other key features of the new machine include the dual pilot controls and electronic proportional flow which delivers precision control including low flow and high flow functions which are useful for patch-planing and improve the machine's versatility, JCB said.

Electronic throttle control with auto idle function improves fuel economy and ease of use while load-sensing hydraulics enables efficient and safe use of all functions, the company stated.

Mr Lecarpentier said, "Even with reduced space in this machine there is good accessibiliy to the components for daily service. This makes maintenance quick and easy."
