Network Rail releases details of £2bn framework
06 April 2022
Network Rail has released details of a £2 billion works and renewal framework for Wales and the Western territories, as it seeks contractors to come forward to tender for contracts.
The contracts will cover work on the majority of the rail network’s buildings and civil portfolios such as structures, geotechnical off-track and drainage facilities and stations.
The framework will last at least five years, starting in 2024 and ending in 2029.
However, Network Rail also have the option to extend the contract by three years if necessary.
The framework has been split in to five separate lots which will be open to all contractors, however, a maximum of two lots are to be awarded per applicant.
Lots 1 and 2, which are valued at £450 million, cover the maintenance and renewals programme of civil engineering assets such as tunnels, bridges, and retaining walls and culverts.
Lots 3 and 4 have been valued at £370 million and £300 million respectively and will cover geotechnical and drainage works in the region.
Finally, lot 5 is valued at £430 million and covers the maintenance and renewal of assets such as buildings, depots, security systems and car parks.
Companies wishing to express an interest in working on the framework have until the 20 April, 2022, to do so, with tenders expected to be sent out in June.
