The first is a two-stage design and build contract with a value of about €115 million.

It will involve the upgrading of 16km of the M62 motorway between Warrington and Manchester.

The design phase began in December 2017, with the help of design partners WSP and Aecom, and work is slated to begin in spring of 2018.

The second contract is worth approximately €245 million to the joint venture, and it will require the conversion of a 24km stretch of the M27 between junctions four and 11 into a permanent dual four-lane motorway.

The design phase will begin in January 2018, with the support of design partners SWECO/Mott Macdonald and WSP, and construction will start in spring 2018.

Both contracts were awarded under Highways England’s Collaborative Delivery Framework, which was said to be the largest ever for the development of England’s motorways and A roads. bmJV was awarded a place on the framework in 2014.
