The new Komatsu WA380-7 wheeled loader has a Stage IIIB engine, and will be a part of the company's Care programme.

The potential increase in the cost of running an EU Stage IIIB machine is being addressed by Komatsu Europe International, which has introduced a new maintenance scheme which it claims will lower the cost of ownership of its machines whether rented, leased or purchased.

Komatsu Care is described as a service and advanced product support solution, and will come as standard with all Komatsu construction Stage IIIB machines.

As part of Komatsu Care, Komatsu will offer its customers a complimentary maintenance programme and a complimentary Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) exchange.

The maintenance programme includes complimentary factory-scheduled maintenance on Stage IIIB Komatsu construction equipment for the first three years or 2,000 hours (whichever occurs first), and is available at all official KEISA distributors. Planned maintenance intervals are at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 service hours.

The Komatsu Care programme includes replacement of oils and filters with Komatsu parts, a multi-point walk-around inspection, and Komatsu Oil & Wear Analysis Sampling (KOWA),

A free Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) exchange will also be standard for all Komatsu EU Stage IIIB construction equipment. It includes a maximum of two complimentary KDPF exchange units for the first five years or 9,000 hours.

Komatsu claims that the maintenance programme can increase the longevity of component life and the price of used vehicle sales. It said it ensured that proper maintenance was performed with OEM parts by factory-certified technicians. The programme was also said to increase uptime and efficiency, and to provide detailed machine maintenance records that could, in turn, bring a higher resale value. Komatsu Care will be transferable to new owners on resale.
