More than 80 lots of construction equipment from French contractor Eiffage are to go under the hammer at an auction in France held by Ritchie Bros – the first time the contractor has sold this many machines through the auction company.

To be held at Ritchie’s site at St Aubin sur Gaillon, France, on March 3, the auction will feature a large selection of heavy equipment items from several equipment owners, including Eiffage Travaux Publics.

Ritchie Bros said it would be selling all the items without minimum bids or reserve prices. Bids can be made in the auction live in person, online at the Ritchie Bros website – rbauction.com – and by proxy.

Xavier Barthelemy, equipment director at Eiffage Travaux Publics, explained why more than 80 Volvo and Caterpillar equipment items were in the auction.

“Our company is currently working on the high speed railway track between Paris and Rennes, for which we acquired a large number of heavy equipment items. Now that the earthmoving works for this project are nearly completed, we decided to turn to Ritchie Bros to sell a selection of hydraulic excavators, dump trucks, dozers, motor graders and other items to the highest bidders.”

Michel Schietequatte, Ritchie’s regional sales manager, said, “Our March auction in St Aubin sur Gaillon is really picking up steam. We’ve got a couple of big packages in the auction already attracting attention, including late-model Caterpillar and Volvo equipment from Eiffage Travaux Publics.

“Potential buyers are already contacting our auction site about the items. We encourage other equipment owners to take advantage of this momentum and consign their equipment to the auction today.”
