Balfour Beatty, in a joint venture with Gammon, has announced that they have been awarded a HK$1.3 billion (US$150 million) contract on behalf of Top Oasis Limited — a consortium formed by Sino Land Company Limited and CSI Properties Limited — for the construction of a residential development in Yau Tong, Hong Kong.

Gammon will be responsible for the construction of a 33-storey residential tower which will provide a total of 792 flats.

Balfour Beatty says that the project will recycle all demolition waste on-site to reduce waste and deploy an electric-powered battery storage system to reduce the need for diesel generators thereby reducing carbon emissions.

Work is scheduled to be underway and the project is estimated to be completed in 2025.

Kevin O’Brien, chief executive of Gammon, said, “We look forward to sharing our expertise and experience to implement customer-focused solutions that will allow the works to continue to the highest standards of safety, while also bringing our modern and sustainable method of construction.”
