Ammann changes in the UK

Swiss-based Ammann is separating the plant and machine business of Ammann Equipment Ltd by selling its UK machine business to a new company, AY Equipment, in a management buyout, while it is moving its UK mixing plant business to an existing subsidiary, Ammann UK.

Family-owned Ammann said it was strengthening its market position in the UK and Ireland.

The machine business is being sold in a share deal to AY Equipment retroactively as of 1 October, 2013.

AY Equipment is the newly-appointed Ammann dealer for the entire range of Ammann compacting products, including sales, maintenance and spare parts services for the UK and Ireland markets.

This company will continue to provide the full Yanmar line of products and third-party products.

As part of the management buy-out and in addition to the products, the machines team headed by Robert Brown, managing director and co-investor in AY Equipment, will stay with the machine business.

Ammann said the transition would therefore be seamless, and that the new company would provide machine customers with all the accustomed services.

In the asphalt mixing plant business, Ammann will continue with the same team, headed by managing director designate of Ammann UK, Malcolm Apperley, former business development manager at Ammann Equipment.

It said this team was fully committed to strengthening further its market position in the UK and Ireland. Ammann will continue to provide all sales and aftersales activities.

Both companies, Ammann UK and AY Equipment, will continue to operate from their existing location in Warwickshire.

No changes will be made in the asphalt pavers business field. Ammann will continue to work with dealer partner Pavemac in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire, to market its range of pavers in the UK and Ireland markets.
