The digitalisation of the construction products sector is to be a key focus for wall, roof and landscaping company Wienerberger, which has said that it will be working in close partnership with Construction Products Europe (CPE) to spearhead the change.

CPE represents the interests of European construction products manufacturers, from SMEs to multinational companies.

As part of the investment, Wienerberger’s Paul Surin, head of built environment, is set to work with CPE throughout 2017 to launch a new initiative called Task Group Digitalisation.

The initiative is designed with the aim of assisting with the innovation of construction products’ information across the sector, and Surin, as convenor of the task group, will head up the co-ordination of raising the profile of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Surin said, “We’re delighted that the CPE board has approved the launch of a new task group to help with the digitilisation of construction products. Our main priority will be the development of a smart CE marking initiative and its proof of concept – so we really are hitting the ground running.

“The group is open to all CPE members, so we are encouraging associates across Europe to get behind the new initiative. We want everyone to really look at ways in which we can truly innovate across the sector to help secure a more efficient and sustainable future for the industry as a whole.”
