15 January 2020

Rockwell Property has broken ground on its £151 million (€176 million) 82 West India Dock Road development in London, United Kingdom (UK).

The ‘Westferry’ project, which was designed by architects SimpsonHaugh, will see the construction of a 30-storey mixed-use building next to the city’s Westferry DLR station.

Donal Mulryan, founder of Rockwell, said, “We are immensely proud to break ground on this landmark building which will be an important asset for the area, providing significant benefits for the local community with the creation of numerous jobs for local people, enhanced public realm and much needed new homes.”

In addition to housing the tallest Premier Inn hotel in the UK, which will have 400 bedrooms, the construction will also comprise 66 new homes – 18 of which will be classed as affordable homes. The tower will also include a communal garden, restaurant, café, gym facilities and a landscaped pocket park.

Due for completion in early 2022, Rockwell said the development would act as a gateway to Canary Wharf’s central cluster and become a marker for the area.
