Rental launches from JCB

22 March 2016

Manufacturer JCB said its product showcase at this year’s Bauma Munich exhibition would include a new 13 tonne excavator for rental customers, together wtih a range of generators also targetting the rental market.

It said the JS131 crawler excavator was a 13 tonne machine made for rental customers. It is equipped with a 55kW Tier 4 Final JCB Ecomax engine that meets emission standards without the need for a diesel particulate filter, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or any form of exhaust treatment fluid.

JCB said the new model boasted a 10% reduction in operating costs, and since it did not need AdBlue solution (which is used in the SCR process), it was ideal for rental operations.

It said the Ecomax engine also runs at 1800rpm, rather than the higher 2050rpm of the more powerful 81kW engine in the JS130.

This is said to result in low noise levels of just 99dB - 2dB less than the 101dB of the higher performance model. This makes the JS131 particularly suitable for inner city construction projects, where site noise can be a major concern for the contractor, said JCB.

The machine can also be operated in non-Tier 4 territories without any requirement for changes to after-treatment systems, boosting residual values and further lowering total cost of ownership for the customer, JCB added.

Tim Burnhope, JCB chief innovation and growth officer, said, “JCB has listened to the voice of the customer and developed a specific machine for the hire industry, which is very important to JCB.

"By offering the JS131 with our proven 55kW JCB Ecomax engine, we can provide a lower total cost of ownership proposition for our customers, with no compromise on machine digging performance.”

Meanwhile, new from JCB Power Products at Bauma will examples from the RS range of generators, which will range from 20kVA to 2000kVA and are specifically designed for rental customers. The RS range will sit alongside the existing QS line of generators, which can also be tailored for rental use with a host of industry-specific options, said JCB.

It said RS generator sets include robust, heavy duty rental skid base with 12 hour bunded fuel tanks, hard wearing powder-coated zinctec steel canopies to rental specification, and single point lifting and fork lift pockets for easy handling.

Rental spec alternators and control options including synchronisation are also available, together with JCB’s LiveLink telematics system.

Taking place in Munich, Germany, from 11 to 17 April, Bauma is the largest construction equipment exhibition in the world.
