Recycling Aktiv: ‘We expect to go ahead’

By Steve Ducker28 January 2021

The organiser of German trade show Recycling Aktiv says it expects the event to go ahead on the scheduled June dates.

This announcement comes despite several other events across Europe – including the Deustcher Abbruchverband (German Demolition Conference) and the Steinexpo quarrying and building materials exhibition – being postponed or cancelled due to ongoing problems related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last held in 2019, Recycling Aktiv expects to provide both outdoor and indoor exhibits again this year

“Our exhibitors are chomping at the bit and are keen to help us shape the twin trade fair,” said Olivia Hogenmüller, project manager of Messe Karlsruhe, which will host Recycling Aktiv in the south west German city on 10 to 12 June alongside construction and civil engineering show Tiefbau Live.

“Together with them, our partner associations and service partners, we are developing practical solutions that will enable live demonstrations to take place safely and in full at stands and in six formats.

“We are already working on a tailored safety and hygiene plan for our event, in close contact with the relevant authorities. Our priority is to create flexible measures. Since September, the trade fair industry has shown that safety and hygiene measures adapted to the infection situation can be effective.”

Messe Karlsruhe plans to have both indoor and outdoor exhibits at this year’s event, including the show’s first cross-industry attachments arena demonstrating both recycling and civil engineering products, and more than 90,000 sq m (almost one million sq ft) of outdoor space.

“Virtual events are great, but they can never replace live ones. In this regard, we are really looking forward to getting back to live,” Olivia added.

“We can’t wait to fully interact with visitors again.”
