Construction has started on the Business Park and Leisure Centre in Milanofiori North, Milan, Italy. Masterplanned by Nederland-based architect Erick van Egeraat, the project, for developer Brioschi Sviluppo Immobiliare, is one of the biggest in Europe, and “addresses the rising demand for high quality offices in Milan.”

The entire park will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 comprises 120000 m2, including four office buildings, housing, shops, and a leisure and entertainment centre. It will be finished by 2009. The adjacent Phase 2 will comprise 100000 m2, including offices and shops.

The scheme includes a self-contained community covering 218000 m2 featuring offices, houses, commercial, retail and leisure facilities, a cinema and a hotel. Special attention has been given to energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.

The Milanofiori North development area, adjacent to the A7 motorway, will be linked to its metropolitan railway network.
