Hyundai will use Intermat to unveil its Stage IIIB compliant excavators and loaders.

Hyundai's stand will provide Intermat visitors with the first look at its -9A series of excavators and wheeled loaders, which feature Stage IIIB engines. The company says that as well as low emissions, the new machines are more fuel efficient and have seen other refinements in the way they are operated and controlled.

Also on display will be a prototype of the company's R220LC hybrid excavator, which is the fruit of three years' research and development at the company's headquarters in Ulsan, South Korea. The 22 tonne machine features a 100 kW diesel engine alongside an electrical system which gets its power from the slewing brake. Hyundai says that by reusing this energy the machine could be as much as 25% more fuel efficient than a traditional excavator.

But most eye-catching of all will be the new 120 tonne R120-9 crawler excavator, Hyundai's first venture into the 100 tonne+ weight category. Designed for the mining and quarrying sector, the machine features a 567 kW Cummins engine and has been designed for low internal and external noise levels. A 7.55 m boom and 3.4 m dipper stick over 8 m of digging depth and the machine will be fitted with a 6.7 m3 bucket.
