Challenging characteristics

Deutz considers the use of bio-diesel in the beginning stages of new engine development, according to product man for the company, Michael Wild.

He added a wide range of Deutz engines a proved for use of 100% DIN bio-diesel (B100) according to the European EN 14214 bio-diesel standard, as well as blends up to 20% (B20) of US bio-diesel according to standard ASTM D6751.

“The core advantage of using bio-diesel isthe fact that it is renewable energy and greenhouse gases emissions are reduced,” Mr Wild said.

He added, technically, the use of bio-diesel is a challenge due to its different chemical characteristics.

The company's latest development is rapeseed oil according to standard DIN V 51605, which is approved for use in Deutz Natural Fuel Engine.
