A consortium including Dutch-based Royal BAM group has been awarded preferred bidder status by the Dutch Government Buildings Agency (Rijksgebouwendienst) for a new building for the Supreme Court of the Netherlands at Korte Voorhout/Smitsplein in the Hague.

The project is to be implemented by the Poort van Den Haag consortium – a partnership between BAM PPP, Claus en Kaan Architecten, BAM Utiliteitsbouw, BAM Techniek and ISS Integrated Facility Services. Arup Nederland and DGMR Bouw are also involved as design partners.

The contract covers the design, construction, financing and maintenance of the building. Work is expected to start in 2013 and the building will become available for use in November 2015, after which the consortium will be responsible for services and management over a 30-year period.

The project covers the demolition of the former AXA building and the French embassy, and the construction of a building with offices and courtrooms with a total surface area of 15,000m2, and an underground car park.

The services will include maintenance, catering, cleaning and security, and the contract close is expected to be reached at the end of December.
