200 new homes earmarked for York

19 September 2013

Hungate Regeneration, a joint venture between integrated property and infrastructure group Lend Lease and Evans Property Group, has submitted planning permission for nearly 200 new homes as part of the second phase of its £150 million (€180 million) residential led mixed-use development in York.

Situated alongside the River Foss, close to York city centre, the proposed scheme will comprise 195 new one- to three-bedroom apartments.

The development has been designed to incorporate the latest in sustainable technologies, including solar panels and green roofs, which should significantly reduce energy costs for residents.

Lend Lease has been working with the City of York Council on the development and is now seeking detailed planning permission for the new homes.

Hungate is based in one of the most historic parts of York and was the subject of a major archaeological dig conducted by York Archaeological Trust and funded by the developers, which revealed artefacts dating back to the Roman period. The site has now been fully investigated by the Trust.
