€ 500 million tunnel award

23 April 2008

A consortium comprising Vinci subsidiaries CFE and Dredging International, along with Dura Vermeer, Arcadis, Besix and TBI, have won the concession contract to build and operate the Coen Tunnel in Amsterdam.

The € 500 million project involves the financing, design and construction of a new submerged, 8-lane road tunnel, as well as renovating the existing tunnel and maintaining both structures for 30 years. The construction part of the project is expected to last five years, and will be carried out by consortium members Vinci, CFE, DEME, TBI, Dura Vermeer and Besix.

As the tunnel's operator, the consortium will be paid an annual fee by the Dutch Ministry for Water and Public Works. The concession payments will be based on the actual availability of the infrastructure to users of these tunnels, which connect the centre of Amsterdam with the northern part of the Netherlands.
